When you get ill, you must immediately, and not later than on the second day of your absence, inform your employer.
Your income when you are ill
When your employment is based on Labour Code, you have the right to receive:
- 80% of your standard monthly salary.
- 70% if you are in a hospital.
- 100% in case of accident at workplace.
- 100% when you get ill while being pregnant.
During the first 33 days of your sick leave, your wage is paid by your employer. After 33 days, you are paid by ZUS, the Polish Social Insurance Agency.
When you return to work after more than 30 days of absence, you must undergo medical tests.
When your employment is based on the Labour code are protected when you are ill, and you cannot be fired!
Remember, it is only if you have a contract based on the labour code that you will receive your wage when you are ill. If you have a written civil contract or no written contract at all, you will not receive wage when absent from work!
